BackgroundThis final project prompted students to create an animation of choice. I decided to animate a scene from Spiderman: Homecoming for reference.
MY CONTRIBUTIONS (responsible for all aspects): - Re-topologized Adobe fuse model in Maya - Created UV Maps for mesh painting - Built out rig with Advanced Skeleton 5 - Painted Skin weights for animation - Designed model in Substance Painter - Animated and Rendered in Maya |
3D ModelingBefore starting this animation project, I decided to create and rig my own character. Using Maya, I imported in a default Adobe Fuse body and used to soft select tool to adjust the proportions and muscle sizes of the character mesh. I then removed the head portion and bridged a separate head I created with an equal amount of vertices to the body. I then created Cylindrical UV maps and used tools like unfold, orient shells, layout, and symmetrize to complete them.

Painting
The design and detail of this character was created in Substance Painter. Certain tools such as the Lazy Mouse tool made the creation of curved lines easier.

AnimationI referenced a YouTube video for animation, and made a key frame every 5 - 6 frames or so. While making the main keyframes, I initially used stepped animation for a clearer view of each frame. I then switched back to auto and used the Graph Editor to ensure transitions were smooth. Adjusting the timing of key frames and switching to weighted and breaking tangents made the process easier as well.
