Gill Finding Nemo 3D Model by PatrickMolen on Sketchfab

Background

This project prompted students to create their first organic model. I decided to use Gill from Finding Nemo for reference. Steps I took to complete this:

- Model in Maya
- Create UV maps
- Paint in Substance Painter

Modeling

Model started as a cube object. I inserted edge loops and edited edge flows as I went along the process.

UV Map

I created a Planer UV map and I either cut or move and sew to create main pieces. Unfolding and symmetrizing cleaned up the maps.  

Substance Painter

Any design and detail was created in substance painter.
